Top Companies 2022: The 15 best workplaces to grow your career in Singapore

LinkedIn Top Companies is a ranking of the 15 companies that are investing in their talent and helping people build careers that will set them up for long-term success.

The world of work continues to transform in front of our eyes. As professionals moved jobs at unprecedented rates in 2021, companies have had to step up to attract and retain talent — from offering more opportunities to get promoted and gain new skills to increasing flexibility. These changes have put employees and job seekers in the driver’s seat, igniting them to rethink what they expect out of an employer today.

Our 2022 LinkedIn Top Companies list is the 2nd annual ranking of the 15 best workplaces to grow your career, all based on unique LinkedIn data. These are the companies that are offering stability in our ever-changing world of work — the ones that are not only attracting employees, but retaining them. 

To put together this year’s rankings, we looked at LinkedIn data across seven pillars, each revealing an important element of career progression: ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity and spread of educational backgrounds. You can learn more about our methodology at the bottom of this article. 

This list is meant to be a resource for you, guiding professionals at every stage — whether that means a career pivot, jumping back into the workforce after a hiatus or investing in new skills. At each company, you’ll find insights around which roles and skills are in demand, top locations and much more. You can also explore open jobs (many of which are remote positions) and people you may know at the company. If a company catches your eye, follow their company page and/or turn on job alerts to stay on top of future opportunities.

2. Standard Chartered Bank

Methodology

Our methodology uses LinkedIn data to rank companies based on seven pillars that have been shown to lead to career progression: ability to advance; skills growth; company stability; external opportunity; company affinity; gender diversity and educational background. Ability to advance tracks employee promotions within a company and when they move to a new company, based on standardised job titles. Skills growth looks at how employees across the company are gaining skills while employed at the company, using standardised LinkedIn skills. Company stability tracks attrition over the past year, as well as the percentage of employees that stay at the company at least three years. External opportunity looks at Recruiter outreach across employees at the company, signaling demand for workers coming from these companies. Company affinity, which seeks to measure how supportive a company’s culture is, looks at connection volume on LinkedIn among employees, controlled for company size. Gender diversity measures gender parity within a company and its subsidiaries. Finally, educational background examines the variety of educational attainment among employees, from no degree up to Ph.D. levels, reflecting a commitment to recruiting a wide range of professionals. 

To be eligible, companies must have had at least 500 employees as of Dec. 31, 2021 in the country and attrition can be no higher than 10% over the methodology time period, based on LinkedIn data. Similarly, companies with layoffs during that time that amount to more than 10% of their workforce, based on public announcements, are also ineligible. Only parent companies rank on the list; majority-owned subsidiaries and data about those subsidiaries are incorporated into the parent company score. Certain data counts — like gender diversity and educational background — are normalized based on company size across the pool of companies eligible for the list. The methodology time frame is Jan. 1, 2021 through Dec. 31, 2021. All of the data used is aggregated and/or de-identified.

We exclude all staffing and recruiting firms, educational institutions and government agencies. We also exclude LinkedIn, its parent company Microsoft and Microsoft subsidiaries.

About company insights

*Company insights were sourced from LinkedIn Talent Insights and include the parent company and majority-owned subsidiaries. Data reflects aggregated public member data from active LinkedIn profiles in the relevant country and includes employee profiles associated with the parent company and majority-owned subsidiaries on LinkedIn. We exclude members who identify as interns or contractors. Headcounts are provided by the companies directly or public filings, unless otherwise noted with an asterisk. Those headcounts are based on LinkedIn data. All insights reflect a 12-month time period looking back from January 2022. Top locations were categorized as the regions or cities that employed the largest percentage of each company. Skills data was derived from measuring the most frequent unique skills among a company’s employees, relative to other companies. Most common job titles represent the occupations that are most common within each company. Largest job function measures the function area most prevalent within each company.
